About Nostaliga
What is Nostaliga?
Nostaliga reconstructs your personal history — the music you played, photos you took, workouts, check-ins, shows you watched, and posts — onto a single day-by-day timeline, plus an "On This Day" view that resurfaces past moments. Everything is assembled on your device.
Is there an account or login for Nostaliga?
No. Nostaliga has no account and no server of its own. You connect the services you want, and everything is stored on your device.
Does Nostaliga work on iPad?
Yes — Nostaliga runs on iPhone and iPad, including HealthKit workouts on both.
Connecting your data
Which services can I connect?
Music and activity services connect via their official OAuth flow: Spotify, Last.fm, Trakt, Swarm (Foursquare), Strava, and Adobe Lightroom. With your permission, Nostaliga also reads Apple Music, Photos, HealthKit, and Calendar on-device. Twitter / X, Instagram, and Facebook are added by importing the data archive you download from each service.
How do I connect Spotify / Last.fm / Trakt / Swarm / Strava / Lightroom?
Open Settings → Integrations, tap the service, and follow the OAuth flow. You'll be redirected back to Nostaliga once you authorize. A green check appears next to the service when connection is complete.
How do I import my Twitter / X, Instagram, Facebook, or Spotify history from a data export?
Some history comes from a data export you request from the service, download, and then add to Nostaliga — it's unpacked and processed entirely on your device. Step-by-step guides:
I connected a service but nothing is showing up.
Pull to refresh on the main timeline. Background sync also runs periodically — open the app once and give it a few minutes on the first connection for an initial import.
Background sync isn't running.
iOS controls the schedule — background tasks run when the system decides it's a good time (battery, network, usage patterns). Keeping Background App Refresh on for Nostaliga in iOS Settings → General → Background App Refresh increases how often it runs.
Privacy & your data
Does my data leave the device?
Only when you explicitly ask Nostaliga to fetch history from a third-party service you connected — those requests go directly from your device to that service. Matching, correlation, and rendering all happen locally. Connecting Spotify, Strava, Trakt, or Swarm also relays a short-lived OAuth code through a stateless token-swap endpoint so app secrets never ship in the app. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
How do I remove a service's data, or reset the app?
Data is stored per integration, so there's no single reset button. In Settings → Integrations, open a connected service and use Delete Imported History to clear its local data and Disconnect to remove its access token. To clear everything, do that for each service, then delete the app — which removes the on-device database and caches.
I want to delete my Nostaliga account.
There is no Nostaliga account to delete — Nostaliga has no server and stores nothing about you. To remove local data, disconnect each connected service and delete its imported history under Settings → Integrations, then uninstall the app. To cut off Nostaliga's access to a third-party service from that service's side, visit the connected-apps settings on their site (Spotify Apps, Strava My Apps, etc.) and revoke Nostaliga.
